At Thelwall Juniors, we are committed to promoting online safety for all members of our school community
For Our Children
We teach e-safety throughout each half term using the Kapow computing scheme and within our PSHE lessons. Our E-safety cadets provide information, advice and assemblies to ensure children are aware of the importance of online safety, using the SMART rules as a base. We host whole school and year group assemblies from external providers and internally. We recognise national E-safety days throughout school. We have our rules for online safety on display in every classroom. We use Senso technology to ensure any potential online safety incidents are reported and investigated and resovled in a timely manner.
For Our Staff
We provide regular training, collaborate with others and share important updates regularly. All governors, staff and volunteers read and sign our induction agreements which include acceptable use of technology and social media annually. Staff code of conduct agreements include reference to this. Relevant staff have training on Senso reporting.
For the Wider School Community
We ping posters with lots of information about various online topics/ issues, relevant to the ever changing online landscape. We share current and relevant information in our weekly newsletters. We host workshops to create a greater awareness of current issues, collaborating with the Infant school to facilitate greater exposure. We encourage all families to speak to children regarding online safety and create their own rules for internet safety, at home and provide free training opportunities for parents to access. We report annually an overview of e-safety issues that have arisen within our school to governors and encourage families to report to school any online safety concerns to school. E-safety and linked policies are available on the school website.

These resources, accessible through their website and app, aim to equip parents with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world and keep children safe online. The courses cover various topics, including understanding children's online habits, potential risks, and practical steps for protection.
Our E-Safety Curriculum
Our online safety progression statements are developed from our Computing curriculum and are revisited every half term for all children in school.
