Parent Questionaire - Ocober 2018

Dear Parent/Carer,

A warm welcome to the first newsletter from the Governing Body – the first of many we would like to send throughout the school year.

Every school has a governing body made up of volunteers from all walks of life. Some are staff, some are parents of children already at the school, and some are from the wider world. All of the governors bring something different to Thelwall Juniors and are passionate about education and about raising standards and attainment. We are also proud to be associated with the school.

Our Governing Body meet once a term as a whole body and many other times on smaller committees. The role is a strategic one; we are a critical friend offering support whilst holding senior leaders to account.

In addition to various meetings that we attend, we also undertake visits to the school to view the school in operation and to talk to staff and young people. More recently, the governors invited parents to complete a survey about their experiences of the school. In total, 107 people filled in the survey and all responses were anonymous – we would like to sincerely thank everyone that took the time to respond.

The results were generally positive and we received some very encouraging feedback in relation to what the school does well. This builds on our excellent Year 6 SATS results this year where the Junior School scored above the local authority and national averages in all areas. Also, in recognition of our approach to Special Education Needs and inclusion within the school, we were awarded the Warrington Inclusion Mark by the local authority in each of the last 2 years. We hope to receive this award again this year.

In our bid to continually improve, we looked not just at the survey results but also read the comments received on the forms. We observed that many comments related to a number of key themes and the school’s senior leaders have put forward an action plan to address those themes. Overleaf you will find the results of the survey and the action plan for where we are going to improve.

The Governing Board will monitor progress against these actions within the school and will conduct further parent surveys on an ongoing basis.

If you want to know more about who the governors of the school are, you will find our details on the school website : https://www.thelwalljuniorschool.org.uk/warrington/primary/thelwall-junior/site/pages/governors/governors

Again, thank you for completing the survey and for your ongoing support.
